That looks good. Some khaki might not be a bad idea...that and covering that shiny barrel when you hunt...them turkeys gots good eyes. Speaking of turkeys, I'll keep my comments about our liberal gov't to myself...don't want your thread shut down for 'political' discussion.

I have camo wrap for the barrel, and if it turns out to be a good shooter that I’ll keep, I may cerakote the barrel flat dark earth. I have the khaki arriving in the mail in a day or 3 so we shall see. If I like the color, I may do some hillbilly camo. There are a couple of people putting videos on YouTube doing camo with spray paint and bits of shrubs as patterns. Some of them look really good. I figure I’ll leave the green as the background and then lay a few branches etc on it, spray the khaki and have a neat two color pattern. Or I may just go solid khaki, or leave it green. It’s a Tupperware stock, so I don’t really care. The only plus is it’s almost weightless.
My 7-08 has a Boyd’s stock on it, and I may go that route eventually with this one too. Far too many options...

And no need to say more on JT. All of us know the story.

My khaki paint arrived, but I think I’m going to leave it the solid green for now. It honestly looks really good. The Krylon camo paint is fantastic. I can’t tell it isn’t factory finish!

More pics:

It looks very bright and shiny, but it’s in bright sunlight. It’s actually very much like a light olive drab in person.

The only other mod I’ll do is shortening the extended mag release lever. It sticks way down, and when you are carrying the rifle in the woods, it’s quite common to accidentally drop your mag out. Why Ruger felt the need to change what had been working for 35 years or more is beyond me.
That extended mag release lever has been an after market item for 10/22's since the early 1980's. :o

People, especially those with small fingers, got tired of "pinching" the mag to release it. So the "extended" release was produced where the right hand is moved forward from the pistol grip/trigger guard, then the side of the little finger engages/pushes the lever and the mag drops into the palm.

I know the how and why on the mag release. I’ve had multiple 10/22ssince the 80s. I just don’t care for the extra length. If it were target only, I might have left it alone, but in a hunting situation, the extended release has caused mag or six end up on the ground.

Wow, Nice spray job on the lil ruger- Well done. I have the Ruger American Compact in 22 mag and that little rifle is a tack driver and the same can be said for my Ruger American Compact in .223. Two of the most accurate rifles I own in their respective calibers. On the other hand I do prefer the extended mag release. Don't activly hunt much anymore but I can see the preference for the short release.
