This is two of the Remington's I was shooting the new lot of CCI Standard in yesterday. They are both good shooters and most days the 51 year old 512X will stay right with or beat out the 541S. The 541S rifles shoot well for factory rifles but they are much over rated in my book. I have owned 5 and three were very good in accuracy. So I guess I am at 60% on getting a good one. I just don't see the magic in them that everyone seems to think they have. After shooting CZ's I see there is other rifles that sell for less and do as well. The 541S has a lot going for it on fast lock time and great triggers. Day after day shooting groups I would be surprised if the 541S would beat out the old 512X. Never thought a rifle with a tube fastened to the barrel would shoot as well as a mag fed or a single shot. I was wrong. Here they are.
New 4-12 AO Leupold with engraved rings to go with the engraved receiver on 541S.

Love that 512. The one I got from my dad was made in 1947 and does not have any scope mounts. Frankly, it shoots as well as my new Ruger American Rimfire. Great rifles.
