Ithaca Model 72 Saddle Gun
Ithaca Model 72 Saddle Gun
Is anyone here familiar with this model? Apparently they were German made and imported by Ithaca back in the 70s. One of my local shops took one on trade, and gave me a call to go check it out. From the pics he sent me, it looks a lot like the H001.

These were originally made by Erma of Germany. I recall looking at one of these many years age and I vaguely remember being pretty impressed with it.
I also remember reading somewhere (not too many years ago) that Erma sold their design to Henry and became the design for their .22 rifles.
Being I have a preoccupation with older and classic guns if I were looking for a .22 lever action and saw one of these I would take a 2nd & 3rd look at it.
If it is in good condition, cycles well with a good bore carefully 'comp' it out with those SOLD on internet gun sites and come up with a fair offer.
What is the asking price?

Thanks. Condition is hard to tell from pictures, but looks to be at least an 8 of 10. The asking price is $400 CDN (about $300 USD). I should go take a better look.

Interesting roddy. From what Ed says, I would take another look. Don't forget the bore light.☺

Yes - and ask for a cleaning rod, patches & solvent for a quick barrel swab.I should go take a better look.
$400 sounds high for it however - but I would do some looking and see what others have sold for.
Remember it's not Marlin 39 or a Winchester 9422.
