Marlin SBL 1895 & Bergara BA13 TD

Post by BruniX » Thu Aug 08, 2019 2:40 pm

Hello everyone,

After a long year I had to abandon looking for a Henry H010B, my gunsmith was not able to get it.

After a moment hesitating, :? (I was quite fascinated by the 1886 deluxe winchester, but expensive and not easy for optic mount), I found available a Marlin 1895 SBL immediately !
She had deducted me at first, but seemed rather difficult to obtain in France.

Some pictures of "the beast":

My father who was a sailor brought me a US flag from one of his trips :D

I like the look of wood and steel:

I do not want to take the risk of damaging it and I could not buy it for a second, I also bought a ba13 take down bergara, one shot, to test the powerful reloading.
Bergara is a gun makers that provides many well-known brands.
So, I could do the tests with, and then use them in the marlin ...

And as I had been waiting for a year, I was able to save money and I fell for a red dot + magnifier (vortex strikefire 2 & vmxt3)
I hope that it will hold "the shock" and that it will be appropriate with the marlin.
if someone among you to feedback on this material with 45-70, I am very interested !

As the range is closed for the summer, I had time to have fun surrounding the back lever with 550 paracord :

may be someday i will end up getting a henry, the long ranger is easy enough to find here and not too expensive ...

See you soon !

Glad to "see you back" again, BruinX. It's been a little while.

Sorry for the long wait on the SS, and that the search/wait fell apart. I must admit, as you wrote about your prep stuff with reloading as you were awaiting to locate the Henry, I more than once admired your persistence and patience. Well, I think you did just fine with that Marlin 1895....very sharp-looking rifle. As you said, someday there will be a Henry to be had.

Liked your post.

That is a great looking rifle. How is the recoil on a 45-70? What other caliber could be used to compare the recoil too?

Nice looking Marlin. Dont know about the red dot and magnifier on a 45-70. That set up is more common on AR-15's over here.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

hello , i can't tell you how is the recoil, because it's depend from the reloading and the bullet...

i will try a lot of combination in september, according to this chart :

Also i will try :
