This is the only Non-Henry rifle that I own. I do like it very much. Shoots awesome with good ammo, the cowboy stuff is too weenie for me. Not as accurate either. I also love the 24.25" barrel. The 1873 gets a bad rap these days, in my opinion. So many think it is a weak gun due to the toggle link design but it is much stronger than most give it credit for. I shot 255 grain Underwood semi-wadcutters at 1000 f.p.s. with absolutely no problem. That equates to a 255-grain bullet at near 1400 f.p.s. with a 24.25" barrel. Not a bad punch at 50 yards.

Robert, hope you can adjust your rifle photo, like CT_Shooter did to your Cimarron revolver.
I bet the rifle is a good-looking one.

I agree. I think that any quality, modern day '73 clone can handle a full diet of standard 45 Colt ammo. If they couldn't, Uberti, Miroku and other makers of modern day toggle link lever guns would have a serious issue on their hands with guns constantly being sent in for rebuilds. That has not been the case.

Not a fan of cowboy ammo, either. It has its place for that competition, but it's never been that accurate for me and I don't like that a lot of it burns dirty, too. A shooting pal I know who shoots CAS told me that some of it is loaded, intentionally, to produce smoke for the cowboy effect. Not something I need, though.

Very nice!!

Being an old man that I am I've always kind of liked the old lever guns. Anyway it took me awhile but I spent almost a year trying to figure out which route I was going to take. I finally decided a purchased a few Winchester Toggle Link rifles the first part of this year myself. I went with the Miroku Winchesters. The 1866 in 38, a 1873 in 357, one in 45, and the 9422 I purchased about a year earlier.
