Marlin Model 9 Camp Carbine

Post by Shakey Jake » Mon Feb 18, 2019 1:45 pm

I picked up my Marline Camp 9 (Marlin calls it a Model 9 Camp Carbine) Saturday. I didn't take much of a look at it as I was busy so just put it up on the rifle rack. Took it apart this morning and this **lucky lady** (read between the lines) was the dirtiest SOB I've ever seen. Looked like it was planted in sand in the internals. It took the whole morning taking it apart and cleaning it up. Looks MUCH better now. The only issue seems to be the plastic buffer is cracked but epoxied it back together for the moment. I ordered 2 new ones from Brownels and will install a new one once it arrives. I'll get the scope mounted on it in the next day or two.

Would love one, I was in the process of trying to track down a .45 camp carbine back in 1996 when the changes that saw semi auto ownership become almost impossible here in Aus came into effect.

Have to say, even though I don't shoot autoloaders, much, that one look like it would be a lot of fun to shoot. Cheap to shoot, too.

Got the part in from Brownels so I expelled the broken part and replaced. Added the scope with see thru mounts. Can't wait to get out and dial it in! While at the LGS the other day getting reloading supplies I spied this little beauty looking lonely in the used gun section. Decided to make her happy and bring her home: Ruger .357 Vaquero.
