picked up my lay away
I sold a few items this week not being used. A extra set of wheels for my four wheeler and a scope for a friend to put on his 22. So with the money I went and got a rifle I had in lay away for about a month. It is a 700 Remington ADL in 30-'06. I didn't really want a '06 but it was a great buy and I know where there is a 25-06 Remington barrel I can screw on it. I will shoot it as is for now and see how it does with light bullets and maybe take it a few times for ground hogs. I can remember when I was in high school and had to use my '06 for varmint shooting and it was impressive with light varmint bullets at throwing ground hogs off the mounds. It is in nice shape and was made in 1985. I got it for $299+tax. I prefer the ADL to the hinged floor plate BDL model. Here it is with a few bumps and dents in the wood but the metal in perfect. I will probably do a touch up on the wood this week while it is supposed to rain again.

Made in 1985. I just pulled it out of the stock. It has not had any mods to the stock or trigger. It does now have the trigger adjusted down to 2.5lb. I will pull the trigger off the action tomorrow and do a complete disassembly of the trigger as I believe it may have had WD40 used on it. I already took the bolt apart and flushed it out and cleaned the firing pin and spring and greased the cocking ramp. This is going to make a nice rifle to have around.JEBar wrote:any idea of its year of manufacture ?? .... I've been impressed with our BDL 30-06 with Nosler ... nice rifle indeed .... the 700's of that era were made by craftsmen and out of the box were extremely accurate .... that a rifle well worth keepingbandit1250 wrote:Made in 1985. Its a nice looking rifle but I don't want to think about 30.06 and gophers. With the turned down bolt you should be able to scope it.

Very nice! The best rifle that I have ever owned was a Remington 725 BDL in .270.

Excellent purchase. There is a tremendous spread of 30-06 ammo that matches up to America game.
