Get ready for the new CZ 457
The new CZ 457 rim fire will soon be released. Probably after the shot show in early February. It is going to be a new action for CZ with a forward to fire side safety more in line with American style safeties. It will have a new trigger with three adjustments for weight of pull, sear engagement and also a stop screw setting. I think the problem of the high bolt lift will be gone along with the ring height problems to get bolt clearance. Supposed to be a low 60* lift on the bolt. There is supposed to be a lot of different choices on models and variations from what I have heard. Some may turn you on and some may turn you off. That is European style. You either love it or hate it. I am kind of glad I cancelled my Tikka T1X after seeing the horrible looking magazine it has. Here is a shot of the 457 American. I think a lot of other companies will take notice of the new 457.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Yeah, they been all abuzz over there on RFC on the upcoming 457. Me, I'll wait and see, but honestly can't imagine it will shoot any better than our other CZs.

The MSRP on the 457 Trainer is $449. The Lux MSRP 22 LR is $499 and the magnum model $522. The American like the one I posted the picture of MSRP is $476 and $496 for the magnum. Scout is $365. Varmint is $522. Pro Varmint Black laminated is $588. Varmint MTR Match Target is $752. These prices are supposed to be MSRP. The real street price will be lower but I don't know how much lower.

NCG, You could be right on them not shooting any better except for maybe the one that has the match barrel on it and not sure about the possibility it could have the tight match type chamber to. I guess it is just the nature of some of us to get a little excited about new guns we may want to play with and see how well they will shoot. I can't say I will buy one. I already have to many now but if the street price is close to $400 for the American I may get rid of some thing else and try one. I think CZ decided to make a change to suit the American market on the back wards safety which never bothered me at all and come up with a new fully adjustable trigger to make it so the customers didn't have to go to the shims and spring changes to get a really good trigger pull. That is some thing else that never bothered me. I was already doing the PMTJ before it went on RimfireCentral. The short bolt lift will be a welcome change due to the problems some folks had getting the ring height right for their scope. I never had that problem either because I won't buy a scope with the huge eye piece. So it looks like I don't really need one after all. It will be interesting to see how they perform.North Country Gal wrote:Yeah, they been all abuzz over there on RFC on the upcoming 457. Same, here, on the supposed issues like the safety and so on. Not a big deal. I'm mostly concerned about the action getting too "modernized". Love the 452/455 action for its simplicity and durability. We'll have to wait and see.

There is a lot to be said about simplicity and durability. The CZ rim fires have been proven to be both.North Country Gal wrote:Same, here, on the supposed issues like the safety and so on. Same, here. Might even have to add another bucket to hold them all.
