One that has been hard to find

Post by bandit1250 » Mon Oct 15, 2018 8:27 pm

Today I stopped at a friends home and of course we talked guns. He asked if I had a 39A stock he could buy from me and I told him I had a brand new fore arm and stock. So one thing led to another and he asked me about a short barrel 336. He said I didn't measure the barrel but it is short. He said it also has a short stock. I asked if he meant it was the youth model. He told me he didn't see youth on the barrel or any where. So he went and got it out and sure enough it is a 336 in 30-30 and has a Y after the 336. Has a 16 1/4" barrel. It was made in 2003 and is the walnut stocked one and I believe the later ones were birch stocks. I have been looking for a while to pick one of these up and I got out bid on one at a big auction in Gettysburg a few years back by a dealer. This gun looks unfired and don't even show where a round was slid across the loading gate. No burred up screws and bluing and wood is new condition. So now I have one and don't have to look any more. ;) :D

Good for you. Pst pics when you can.

As for that short barrel, not to worry at all about losing any performance with the 30-30. The 30-30 does a great job in that short a barrel.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......
