Ruger 1022, Model 1102 - Good Deal?

That is a good deal on the sporter version 10/22. I have that exact model and paid around $100 more for mine new in 2013. I was looking for the sporter model because I really like the checkered walnut stock, compared to the stock that comes on the base model. The only things I've done to my rifle is add an inexpensive Simmons rimfire scope and a sling.

Yea that is a great price for the sporter model. If I were going to get one that IS the one I would get. I only owned one 10-22 (an early beater in a Butler Creek folding stock) but it got traded and I made out on the deal.
I think too many people buy a gun (especially a rifle) and go nuts on adding too many gadgetry things or other useless stuff and wind up with something they have way too much money into and not get much out of it. Some stuff IS useful, such as a better trigger or at least up graded parts in one but only if it results in a dramatic improvement, Improved Sights of course as long as they improve ones shooting but I have seen rifles (especially ARs but others as well) that have so much junk on them they are almost difficult to hold - let alone comfortable to shoot!
I blame the manufacturers of aftermarket parts on this but no one is twisting anyone's arm to buy this stuff and I guess it's a harmless obsession - maybe not advantageous to better shooting but I think in some cases these guns don't get shot much.
With regard to my new PCC there is really not much I would want to do to it as it suits me pretty well as is - even the trigger is not too bad for a production rifle and much better than most 10-22s (this is a common statement on reviews of it)
Regardless the aftermarket parts are beginning to sprout from the mfgs. for it and I suspect before long some will become unrecognizable!

Yeah, I did the 10/22 mod thing with a Charger (the pistol version of the 10/22) and it did produce a good shooter, but no better a shooter than my other specialty pistols and, considering all the time (lots of time) and money (lots of money) I invested in it, wasn't worth it for my shooting. Sold it and took a loss. I get why some folks like to do the mod thing. Just some folk's nature to tinker. Not my thing, though. Each to their own.

if I was going to buy another 22 rifle, it would be a Ruger 10/22 Deluxe Sporter Carbine .... its been decades since I sold or traded a centerfire rifle and I learned from that mistake .... because, from that point on, I've only bought firearms with the intent to keep, I do not hesitate to modify/upgrade centerfire rifles to whatever level is necessary to better meet my want's / needs .... when it comes to 22's the only upgrades I have ever considered are trigger pull and to add a scope ....

BTW, Academy sports which usually has very fair pricing is asking $339 for the Sporter, nothing about deluxe so that is a crazy good price.....

Even though I just bought the Ruger PCC - I still have my eye on the 10-22 Trapper I have been looking at - it’s still there....
