New 94

The ‘new’ 94 arrived with the local dealer. Bought blind from auction and it seems a real beaut.
1922 long octaganol barrel 1894 in 30-30. Crown and bore are perfect, bluing nearly completely intact, looks like it has not been shot very much. The action is a little stiff unless you work it quite quickly but it chambers fine. May just need a little TLC but I Will get a better look over the coming days with a strip down and hopefully take it out for a shoot. For 1922 the condition is exceptional, got to stop buying under levers though, its starting to get out of hand ,

P.S. I would not attempt taking a 94 action, apart, unless you have access to a gunsmith. Clean what you can access and call it good.

UNLESS you consider yourself mechanically inclined and have done some degree of work on guns yourself I agree. Mod 94s are not particularly complicated but have to be disassembled and reassembled in a proper order. If you feel you are up to it find a Mod 94 disassembly/reassembly manual or watch some You Tube videos on it. A little hint also - if you were to do this take a pic of BOTH sides of the receiver and print them out. As you remove screws & pins and clean them punch them through the paper at the corresponding location on the picture for two reasons - you wont loose them and you will know where they go back. Also shoot a short vid of various steps in your work for instant replay - modern technology is our friend!

I am the same with guitars and fishing rods , if she ever found out how much they all really cost God help me!
I am real lucky, the local gunsmith is a good friend and he will go over it properly with me, he has taught me a lot and I would never go doing anything daft especially on something like an old 94. Cant wait to shoot it though,

I just went to YouTube and took a look at some disassembly and reassembly of pre-1964 Model 94's .... I think I could do it but am all but certain that I won't ever do so .... way too many small pins and screws for me to ever get them all back in their proper place ..
