Insane prices

Post by bandit1250 » Sun Feb 14, 2021 9:57 am

Insane bidding again on Gun Broker. Marlin Model 60 semi-auto. Stainless with gray and black laminated stock up for bid. Couple hours to go. It now
has 27 bids and is $1001.00. Anybody have one that wants to cash in while the bidding seems to be crazy on these Marlins now?

The pawn shops are getting right at $400 for very nice condition blued models. I look for them to go higher as their peak may not be here yet. I am not sure what is driving their prices up so high. Before the pandemic buying craze nice used ones were under $200.

Apprehension about upcoming Federal gun control moves, overall crime rates, short supply, and general inflationary pressure, among other factors. It all contributes to a complex feedback loop.

There’s a local guy that listed a Glenfield M/60 with the squirrel stock for $325.00. I yelled at my computer when I saw that saying, “that’s a $150.00 rifle at best!” Now I’m thinking I should buy it and list it on Gunbroker.

It’s a beautiful rifle but not at $325.

And ammo is also getting out of reach for a lot of folks. Just out of curiosity, I just checked Hornady Critical Duty 135grn 9mm+P on Gunbroker. Priced at a little over $2/rnd. 18 months ago, I was paying 65cent/rnd for it at my LGS. Still have about 200rnds in my toy box.

Thought about it and decided to keep what I have left. Sold several last fall and did alright but probably would have done much better putting them on auction.
