Winchester mfg. 1908

My gf encouraged me to go out to my LGS and the first one I went into, I found a Winchester that I liked. It was a Sporting Rifle in .30 WCF mfg. in 1908. It had an octagon barrel with a terrible bluing job. Previous owner tried to give it a simulated plum patina, but failed miserably. Although the receiver looked practically new, it had two additional holes probably used to mount a scope on it. I found two identical screws to fill in the holes. The barrel band and lever were also practically new. The stock had many nicks and scratches. The 26" nickel-steel barrel looked in good shape so after cleaning the rifle I took it out to see how it would shoot. It worked just fine and seemed relatively accurate as I only fired three rounds through it. The Crescent shaped butt stock was very hard on my shoulder. I later found out that one is supposed to hold your elbow perpendicular to your upright body and place the stock on the outside of your shoulder in order to shoot the rifle and not hurt your shoulder. I have since refinished the stock, sanding, staining and giving it a clear coat. This rifle is a shooter and not a safe queen. Picture is of when I first got it. The Knife is a Benchmade Nimravus.
