Great review as always. One of my first purchases as well, mine from Sears, back when they still sold guns. Made a great shot with mine, all my buddies and I shooting at the back side of the pond berm. We had stuck the shaft of a broken arrow in the ground, my shot hit perfectly centered on the shaft, between the fletching. I saved the arrow for years.

My first wife loaned the rifle to her two brothers while I was in boot camp and A-School then rolled it in a wool blanket and left it in the damp trunk of her car for six months. It was a block of rust when I got home. I was not happy.

I had a pair for the longest, I ended up gifting them one to the youngest daughter and the other to my son.
Only semi auto 22 rifle I have now is a newer model Marlin 60.

Bought one 30 years ago, still shoot it and now one of my grandkids has fell in love with it, (the other grandkids love my Henry’s)never had any problems with it. Maybe I’ll buy a new one and give the grandkid this one.

Ouch! I hope someone bought you a replacement.

Great review! The 10/22 is a super rifle and made to take a lot of use and abuse. Just don't roll them in a wool blanket.

I wish. ;) Her brothers were great kids, smart, respectful. They had no idea she had loaned the rifle without permission. They provided their own ammunition.
That first marriage didn't last long.

I owned a few 10/22s over the years. Sold my last one a year ago and replaced it with an American. I’m loving the bolt gun. It is considerably more accurate and I like shooting it more. I use an American in 7-08 for my long range hunting, so it’s a great training tool too.

Ruger is my go to aside from Henry. They make great products in all forms. I have high hopes for Marlin now too.

Last 10/22 I had was the newer takedown model. The accuracy of that gun was horrible. I ended up selling it. I have owned a few others that I modified and they were great shooters but no longer own them.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

I have owned several of them. They are are good kids gun but they always seemed way to small for me. I had one that a Gunsmith from Paradise Ca. had done the trigger work and accurized it by by machining the a few thousandths of an inch off the end to make the chamber smaller. I am not surprised that the stinger shot better as the older 10/22's according to the smith had chambers were oversized.
