For the sake of handling recoil with a 30-06, I would recommend an Aimpoint or Ultradot. That kind of recoil can chew up a cheap red dot. I've used the standard Ultradot 25 on guns with even more recoil and have never had one fail.

For me, personally, though, I'd much prefer a small scope like a Leupold Freedom 1.5-4x or 2-7x. Won't cost you anymore than a quality red dot, no batteries to worry about and definitely will help your shooting.
