When I think shooting, I think of my _____
We humans are visual animals, so when we think of doing a particular sport, we tend to visualize doing it with a certain specific tool of that sport. When I think of going to the range for a fun afternoon of shooting, then, I tend to form a mental picture of me shooting one of my favorite guns. Doesn't have to be my most accurate gun or my best looking gun or my most expensive gun. It's just the gun that pops into my head when I think of doing some shooting.
Now, don't overthink this. I'm not asking you to share your best or your most anything this or most anything that gun. Just think "shooting", then tell us what gun you see in your mind. Pics are a must, of course and feel free to explain why you see this particular gun in your mind when you hear or think "shooting", as in going out to shoot and have some fun. To be sure, we can guess what some members will choose, but who knows? Maybe they will surprise us.
Okay, here's mine. Actually, it could be any one of several of this model gun we own. It's actually any one of our classic single shots, since they are all the same type of gun, but this Winchester 1885 Low Wall in 22 mag will do, nicely.
Or, when I'm thinking of shooting iron sights, it's this version of the same gun, this one in 22 LR. it's always a classic single shot, though, that first pops into my head.
Oh, I have guns with better match grade triggers and better match grade barrels and better target stocks and most of them are actually less expensive than these classic single shots. These are not even guns we shoot the most. Their not even guns we use as benchmark guns for this kind of performance or that kind of performance, but a classic single shot IS always a gun that makes any trip to the range a good trip, even when I'm having a bad day of shooting or when shooting conditions are miserable. A classic single shot has an aura and mystique for me that goes beyond how it performs. It's the gun I want to grab, first, when I am getting the itch to shoot because I haven't been able to get out to the range for awhile. When I think shooting, a classic single shot is THE gun that first pops into my mind and the gun I visualize.
Okay, what's yours? Say the word "shooting", then show us what you see.

Re: When I think shooting, I think of my _____
for decades my handgun of choice for hunting or target shooting has been a Ruger Redhawk 44 Mag
when it comes to shotguns, even though I have 6, a Remington 11-87 is the only one I grab
with rifles, my favorite has changed several times in the last 50+ years .... for the last couple it has been our Henry BBS 44 Mag

Going off in the weeds, left field or what have you. When I think shooting, I think of old western movies with quick draw shoot outs.

One of these - either the 'Original' on the right or the 'replica' on the left - well, not really a replica - just not quite as original as the one on the right!
