Store Brand Marlin

Post by Vaquero » Sat Sep 22, 2018 8:45 am

Well the other day a friend called and said she wants to sell a couple of her dads guns.
He passed away some years ago, and her mother years before last.
Anyway I bought a nice '65 Western Field 30-30, it was made by Marlin for Montgomery Wards. Now it's not like I needed another 30-30, whistle, whistle.
But I couldn't beat the price.

There was a time when those store brand Marlins could be had for a bit less than the standard Marlins, but they've become somewhat collectible with Marlin collectors, now. In the case of the Western Filed 740, that gun lacked nothing in quality to a standard Marlin 336. Very nice gun. Thanks for sharing.

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

That perch belly was the style in the late 40s and 50s. Does look a little different, but I actually like that style for the way it fills the hand. Very comfortable;e for me.
