Kimber Raptor II Opinions?

Post by zara_puppy » Wed Apr 12, 2023 9:01 pm

Good Evening.

Does anyone here have any opinions of a Kimber Raptor II 1911. Good or bad it doesn’t matter. A friend of mine has a chance at a very lightly used one and he’s wanted a 1911 for a long time. I have very little experience with Kimbers so anything I can pick up from people I trust that would be great.

Thank you!

Beautiful gun and they shoot okay. But when new they are over priced in my opinion. Not sure what he is paying and if he just wants the Raptor or is after a 1911. I have owned a Raptor and sold it. I have a CZ 97 that for half the price will shoot circles around the Kimber

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

The last time I looked, Kimbers were made in the state of New York a very unfriendly gun state and that takes them off my list.I couldn't help but notice that H.R.A. now lists their H.Q. as Rice Lake and not New Jersey.

I've owned over a half dozen Kimber 1911s and have had zero issues. A couple needed a little break in, but the rest shot great right out of the box. Yeah, they are pricey, compared to imported 1911s, but they are US made. For the record, Dan Wessons are also made in NY and they are even more pricey, but well worth it.

Mine is a Rock Island. Kimbers were too pricey for my budget.

I have a Sig P220 and it shoots fine. Yes, I have always had a yen for a Kimber though. Maybe one of these days.

I have had a Kimber 1911 for many years. it must have 20,000 rounds through it without a problem except for their magazines.

I had a Kimber Raptor II in commander length. It functioned very well and fed all the ammo I tried. The only complaint I had was it shot high and right. The height didn't bother me as much as shooting right. The rear sight was in the slide so tight I could not drift it left and that drove me nuts. I picked it up at gun show for a good price. I finally had enough of the high right shooting and sold it for more than I paid. I used the funds to buy a used Springfield Armory 5" TRP. That Springfield has been one of my most accurate and dependable 1911's I own. That one is a keeper.
