CZ is in the process of buying Colt

Post by CT_Shooter » Sat Jan 16, 2021 3:04 pm

As mentioned by Shakey Jake, CZ is in the process of buying Colt.

Guy J. Sagi wrote:The Hartford Courant reported on Jan. 12 that, “Gun manufacturer Colt, an American legend and Connecticut fixture for nearly 175 years, could come under European ownership in a deal being negotiated with a Czech firearms company.”

The story stemmed from a statement issued by CZ Group on Jan. 9 in which the company said, “The parties have reached an agreement in principle on key commercial parameters of the transaction and they continue discussing the technical parameters, regulatory review requirements, and legal terms and conditions of the transaction.

I've never owned or knowingly even handled any of their products but I've read many favorable comments about CZ from our members .... one can only hope this will be a good thing

I own one of their CZ82 military pistols in 9x18makarov caliber and I am very pleased with it's quality, functionality and reliability. I can not however speak for their commercial lines of firearms.

And another one bites the dust !!!
CZ buying Colt
CZ bought Dan Wesson
Winchester goes to Japan
Remington .. who knows

That leaves Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Mossberg and Henry as American owned and operated companies. I hope they stay American for a long time

I have owned several CZ rimfire and centerfire rifles, and a CZ75 pistol clone. I currently have a wonderful 455 Silencerco Special with 17" threaded .22LR and .17 HMR matched serial number barrels. And I daily carry a P10F with optic. I am a big CZ fan boy. I think they will be a good owner of Colt, though I do not know if they will be able to make it really profitable. If they would make CZ versions of the new Colt revolvers for less $$$ I would probably buy one. I think the workmanship would be better.

Im a big CZ fan also I own a P09 and a 97. I like the 09 because of its high cap. and the 97 in 45 acp will out shoot any of my 1911's in 45. I had a couple of others but they have been sold because I am just thinning the herd

Don't worry about getting older and still doing stupid stuff. You'll do the stupid stuff as always, only much slower. Hold my beer and watch this.......

Dan Wesson is owned by CZ, but it is an American company and DWs are made in New York state. CZ did an outstanding job with DW when they picked up the company. The DW product line is as good as it ever was, if not better. I have 4 of their guns. I hope they can do as well with Colt. It'll be a challenge, though.

CZ has been producing high quality firearms for quite some time. Dan Wesson is noted for their high end production 1911’s and they have been owned by CZ for several years now. Colt could do far worse like Remington.

If CZ completes this purchase I believe you will see Colt name resume it’s position and status within the firearms community. CZ is not a corporate raider looking to maximize their bottom line.
